BALVENIE BAR COMPETITION

As part of the 2017 IDEA Gala, Scottish whisky company The Balvenie were looking for a bar design that would be an expression of the craft of whisky making. Our entry for the competition is inspired by the landscape of the Balvenie Mains: the geometric distillery buildings, the barley crop and the shadows cast by the Scottish sun. A heavy oak base sits beneath a field of copper stalks, which in turn support a floating piece of amber glass. As light shines onto the bar the colours and reflections are reminiscent of whisky as it is swirled in a glass before tasting.
